Roading/Streets
Reported Thursday, 30 January 2020 at 2:33 pm, 23A, Brougham Street, Addington, 8024, Canterbury.
The reporter’s words
Sensors are not operating correctly for pedestrians or cyclists. On numerous occasions over the past few weeks I have either pressed the button and the red man has gone off again without green bike/pedestrian phase or I have arrived at the crossing with people waiting patiently to cross and the red man goes out without a green phase. This crossing is very busy for active transport users and the level of service is well below what it should be. I have reported this fault in the system on a few occasions previously and it generally improves for a while before becoming rubbish again. A permanent fix would be much better. It is also really common for vehicles to ignore red signals completely or stop across the crossing in traffic and end up blocking the crossing when signals change. Traffic enforcement cameras really should be utilised at this crossing to improve driver behaviour.
