Roading/Streets

Reported Tuesday, 18 February 2020 at 2:26 pm, 386 Moorhouse Avenue, Sydenham, Christchurch 8011, New Zealand.

The reporter’s words

I was in my car at the front of the lights waiting to turn right onto Manchester st today, when I saw a wheelchair user had fallen over at the pram crossing outside Mitsubishi Motors. The poor person had fallen forward and was trapped under wheelchair. It was a motorised chair, so person was very limited in ability to help themselves. Samaritans helped, but the angle of crossing is far too abrupt and needs to be eased to help future disabled users here. We need to adhere to accessible city mantra for all. Please make this crossing easier and assess other crossings within the four avenues as a wider programme.
