The reporter’s words

Pedestrian island rail destroyed last night by boy racer car speeding. Aynsley terrace needs its speed bumps back that were installed pre quakes (but removed after quakes due to fixing pipes. The street is treated as a race track by boy racers and regular drivers who seemingly find it 'fun' to speed and weave down the street. Having houses on one side only promotes speeding as the street seems more quite and empty, the ideal speeding conditions. When in reality it's filled with school kids around 8-9am and at 3pm. Also a rest home. Contact anyone who lives on the street and they will tel you speeding cars is an issue. This is a special amenities area of Chch, it's a shame it's ruined by speeding cars who don't respect the area. BRING BACK THE SPEED BUMPS.
