Roading/Streets
Reported Monday, 9 November 2015 at 3:02 pm, 197, Taylors Mistake Road, Sumner, 8081, Canterbury.
The reporter’s words
The macrocarpa trees growing on council land are causing various problems to us as land owners being: 1. Overhanging on our land and dropping of tree matter constantly onto our land; 2. Blocking of sun to our land - the trees are massive and completely out of scale and keeping with other plants in the bay residential area; 3. The trees create an ice risk in winter shading the road from morning sun; 4. The trees have caused damage to our garage roof and walls as they overhang and rub against the garage; 5. The trees are overhanging a power line on our property; 6. Since the change to digital television we are no longer able to watch tv from one building on our property as a dish cannot receive a satellite signal due to the trees obstructing the satellite; 7. The trees have dead parts that if broken would cause damage to our property below and a safety risk to us personally; 8. Council are already having to trim back the trees from roadside powerlines hence a regular cost. We would desperately like to have the trees removed and replanted with something native and appropriate for the site.
