The reporter’s words

My grandson has fallen and I have nearly fallen while out walking. The top of the pathway which joins Te Awakura Terrace to Cannon Hill Crescent is covered in loose gravel . This is a much used local lane which provides access for many school children to the bus stop on St Andrews Hill Road. The top of the lane has been repeatedly dug up since the earthquake with ongoing water issues and has not ever been properly sealed. Given that this is a well used access way it needs to be properly sealed. It is currently unsafe, especially given that it is on a hillside where slipping is even more hazardous. There is also a “bubble up” nearby which adds further to the slip danger in winter if it is not fully sealed. It is currently a danger to all pedestrians, runners and bikers and accidents are inevitable with its current increased usage.
