The reporter’s words

The intersection of the cycle lane on Riccarton Avenue and the turn into the Christchurch Hospital is a nightmare. I cycle to work at the hospital and feel this needs tone ought to someone’s attention. Cyclists and pedestrians (and vehicles) all meet at this one corner. Clear views are obscured by signage and streetlights. Pedestrians walking from the hospital grounds have their line of sight blocked by the new teal signage. Cyclists are not able to see pedestrians coming from the hospital. Staff pedestrians(generally) know to stop and check. Public have no idea of the issue until they get hit or narrowly avoid a collision. The traffic lights means there are groups of both pedestrians and cyclists standing on that corner often. They also block the cycle lane. Could the cycle lane be merged into the road before the new Waipapa ambulance driveway for everyone’s safety.....? Just an idea.
