Roading/Streets
Reported Thursday, 29 April 2021 at 8:10 am, Deans Avenue, Canterbury 8011, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
The ped/cyc crossing time here to cross is usually long (I observe at least half of cyclists ignore the signals and cross in gaps in two stages) but I avoid doing that. Today the m wait was unusually long perhaps 2 mins, such that cyclists crossing opposite me advised 'the lights weren't working today, you just have to go '. I'm unsure if the cycle detection wasn't working but the Ped button activation was. Can this be checked please? I also want to advise that there is a long standing issue with cycle detection protocol via the loops, where detections when the crossing is in clearance phase are ignored. This means cyclists end up having to just cross in a gap, or awkwardly walk ones bike to the Ped button and force an unnecessarily longer ped crossing time. Can this policy or setting also be checked please? Thank you for your great work.
