Roading/Streets
Reported Wednesday, 19 May 2021 at 9:53 am, Christchurch Southern Motorway, Addington, Canterbury, 8024, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
The traffic lights for the pedestrian/cycle crossing of Brougham Street at Simeon/Collins streets have recently changed timing settings. Previously they were responsive to cyclists pressing button and wait times were low. Since last week wait times are now as long as 4-5 minutes. I have seen people try to dash across on red light out of frustration at the long waits. Many people are considering using different routes and avoiding the cycleway. Please revert to previous settings which gives some priority to cyclists.
