Roading/Streets
Reported Wednesday, 2 June 2021 at 11:29 am, 196, Hereford Street, Christchurch, Canterbury, 8011, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
FOOT PATH BEING USED BY CARS: The footpath that runs parallel to Rauora Park (next to the One Central development) is incorrectly being used by cars. Daily, cars use the footpath to drive between Hereford and Cashel Streets, often at speed. This is unsafe as the homes along the footpath have access immediately onto the footpath, and potentially into the path of oncoming cars. There are concrete barriers at either end of the footpath that were moved by Fletchers during construction. These need to be positioned back to block vehicle access. There used to be metal poles in place also, but these were removed. This has been reported on many occasions, but nothing has been done. Someone will get injured if this isn’t addressed.
