The reporter’s words
I bike up Papanui Road to work, and the bike light at this intersection is not phased in a helpful way. When the cars can go straight ahead, bikes are meant to stop, as shown in the photo, even though it is safe to proceed in the green lane. Then the bike light goes green at the same time as bikes and pedestrians are crossing Papanui Road from Grassmere St. I tried this one day and nearly ran over 2 people and nearly crashed with the cyclist who was crossing. They all seemed confused as to why i was going at the same time as them. This bike light needs to be phased with the cars, not with the bikes crossing from Grassmere St.
