The reporter’s words

Hello. We have a significant problem with this stretch of Godley Quay. Specifically, with ‘boy racers’ (for want of a better name). They love to zoom up Godley Quay (from the entrance to Te Ana or further back from Naval Point) heading towards Voelas Road entry point. Just at the rise of the Quay, before Voelas - the boy racers - play russian rullette and drive on other side of the Quay and just hope they dont meet anyone at the top where the Quaty turns onto Voelas Road. This is really a race track, especially after working hours 6-7pm weekdays and in the weekends. Last weekend was a very close miss with x3 cars racing up wrong side of the Quay. Huge screeches - a near miss… fairly common sound unfortunately. This road services the port - so a lot of articulated trucks on it and also pedestrians (especially children) heading to the recreation grounds for sport and Te Ana to play. Please can something be urgently done - speed cameras or any camera. Ironically, here is a CCC car even over the white line at the very point where a crash site is highly probable if racing cars were on the sane stretch. This CCC car would be in a potential crash target…. Please csn you help?
