The reporter’s words

The road markings on the west side of Bassett St at the intersection with Parnwell St do not work as intended, as vehicles often don’t indicate if they are turning left into Parnwell St. Cars and bicycles turning right into Bassett St from the compulsory stop/give way (can’t recall signage) - to the left of the blue mandatory turn left sign in the photo - cannot tell if traffic is going straight ahead along Bassett St or veering left into Parnwell St. It makes it difficult to cross at busy times, especially on bicycles. A sign asking drivers to indicate if turning into Parnwell St would ensure those waiting at the stop/giveaway know the intention of oncoming cars and allow you to cross the intersection without frustrating delays or second guessing. As you will see from the second photo the white car veered off onto Parnwell with no indicator going. i watched many vehicles doing this as the white diagonal lines on the road are either unclear or ignored.
