The reporter’s words

As I approached to cross Manchester, the Manchester traffic phase was finishing and Litchfield traffic got the green - this is when I pushed the beg button. Despite the timing, I had to wait through another cycle of Manchester traffic - which wasn't even enough volume to have drivers going through the Manchester green cycle. Then I got the green man to cross. The pedestrian light should both a) get preference over a second phase of vehicle traffic and b) cycle automatically for pedestrians after each light cycle.
