The reporter’s words

Dear Mayor & CCC. I feel like a hostage in my home with the stench from the waste treatment plant blowing through our house, that's with the windows closed, every time there's a NE and Easterly wind. It's like 1000 rats died & rotting plus a giant with a tummy bug took a dump on our house. Surely this constitutes extream air pollution? Council has has plenty of time to do something expensive to fix it, like 10 tonnes of baking soda, or free air purifiers for Eastern Christchurch houses, or even a pack of incense with a reduction in annual rates. I feel let down that all these years everyone knew what a fire hazard that treatment system was with its honeycomb plastic, yet for all these years no risk assement dealt with preparing for when it does go up in smoke, how to contain it and deal with the aftermath. Instead for all these years that risk remained and now as a result of slack contractors working on that site we are now all suffering from it with our general wellbeing being degraded by stench in our homes we cant escape. Please fix this and stop talking about it or the cost, just get it done. Thank you.
