The reporter’s words

My mother in law has just had this tree planted in her grass verge by the CCC. The old tree died and so she suggested to the Council that given they border the Travis Wetlands, that a more suitable native tree be planted instead of the Quercus Palustris which is an oak. The non-natives have all been removed from the Wetlands, and replaced with natives. These are obviously for encouraging bird and wildlife to the area. She has spoken with the Ranger who was encouraging of her to do the same, especially given she is only 40m from the wetlands. She had previously also spoken to the. Council staff who had supported her with this idea. Now there is an oak that will grow to a very large size, need continued maintenance and it produces leaf debris causing drain blockages. Can we please request that you make contact with Jean Sykes on 027 667 7941, to discuss this matter. Thankyou
