Park - General Request
Reported Thursday, 18 August 2022 at 8:34 am, 27A Kingsford Street, Burwood, Christchurch 8061, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
I noticed the soils in the river corridor are compacted clay with severe drainage issues. Is any work being done to improve soil drainage and water retention? Perhaps the team that mows the grass could spread some gypsum/biochar/mulch to help with drainage. Also adding some french drains or planting water loving plant to help minimize pooling water. In summer this pooling water increases mosquito activity and with rising temperatures it will only get worse.
