Roading/Streets
Reported Tuesday, 1 August 2017 at 10:57 am.
The reporter’s words
I am concerned about haul road construction in the Battery Point Historic Area east of Lyttelton. I would like reassurance that CCC Heritage staff and Heritage New Zealand staff are working closely with LPC and contractors to minimise adverse effects of the massive earthworks going on there. I would be interested to know whether there is an archaeologist on site monitoring and recording any finds. I note that Old Sumner Road (aka Old Dump Road) is included in the heritage area. The road is being modified in a major way. I would like to be reassured that all approvals and consents are in order.
