The reporter’s words
Since the earthquakes and maintenance along the riverbank ceased I have been mowing and keeping the area tidy from the Avondale Bridge to the temp stop bank starts. Approx 0.5 Km. During the week someone was sent out to trim the long grass along the edge of the bank.the result is an appalling mess. Not only is there still long grass the long grass that was cut is strew over the area where I mow. It will now have to be raked up and disposed of before I can mow again. Could those responsible please come back and complete the job to an acceptable standard and clean up the mess they left. If workmen are unable to do a job properly why are they on staff? I maintain this area voluntarily at my own expense, surely people hired or contracted by council can take pride in the city they work for. One wonders what there supervisors are doing and if they find the job acceptable then they have no right to have their position. I expect an explanation and the mess rectified please.
