The reporter’s words
Hi following up on previous report sent to CCC about 12 July advising of the hazardous state of the Wharf piles. This wharf is used by the general public as an alternative to the main wharf in the busy tourist times. It is a very photographed part of Akaroa. It is also used daily in the tourist season by two tourist operators for boarding their boats. It is so bad that if a large vessel should hit directly any one of a number of piles it could lead to partial collapse of the wharf with resulting injuries or even fatalities which would be very serious in our tourist town.
