The reporter’s words

The derelict building on the corner of Restall Street and Winston Ave Papanui continues to be an unsafe eyesore in the heart of Papanui. It is regularly the target of vandals who scatter broken glass on the footpath and public parking spaces. The signwritten facade on the Harewood Road facade of the old Super liquor outlet looks as though it is unstable and could fall off at any time endangering the public safety. The general condition of the building is deteriorating and becoming unsafe everyday to people using Restall St to access Northlands Mall and all the retailers in the area. The ex tennants of the building, Superliquor have tried to cover their branding with large sheets of black plastic. This has become loose and could fly of at any time potentialy endangering traffic passing below. This situation with vandilism, brocken glass and unstable structures endangers the public and is an eyesore. When will the safety of papanui ratepayers be respected?.
