The reporter’s words
The attached photo shows the injuries a local resident sustained when entering the middle beach in Cass Bay yesterday. She slipped on the rocks and storm water drain and fell bruising the right side of her face and splitting her lip open. She was starting to get black eyes when I saw her last night. As chairperson of the Cass Bay Reserves Management Committee I have approached the Council and park wardens on several occasions, and applied to the Long Term Plan for funding, to rectify the dangerous situation caused by loose rocks at this entrance to the beach. They were put there by the Christchurch City Council. The concrete holding them in place was washed away a long time ago and it was only a matter of time before someone slipped and badly hurt themselves. Please can you safely resolve this situation as soon as possible as the beach is being heavily used by the public.
