Roads - General
Reported Tuesday, 9 September 2025 at 3:40 pm, Stanmore Rd, Canterbury, Christchurch 8011, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
When cycling northbound on Stanmore Road the on street car parking results with insufficient width for a vehicle to pass a cyclist / scooter without crossing the double yellow centreline into the opposing right turn bay. This is particularly a problem during the evening peak when starting on a green light with an adjacent platoon of traffic. This layout is unsafe for active modes, frustrates drivers and could result in a crash. This is a key link between the Shag Rock cycleway and Avon River
