The reporter’s words

Pedestrian traffic light does not show the red don’t cross sign when the button is pushed or the phase has finished. I was walking towards this light it went green then it showed nothing when the cycle lane was showing red. I pushed the button still no light it finally went red when I was taking a second clearer picture. I have noticed it does the same thing from the other side of the intersection. I suspect this may have something to do with pedestrians appearing to ignore these lights as when they push the button they expect the light to come up red if they can’t cross and if it doesn’t they will think the lights aren’t working
