Roading/Streets
Reported Wednesday, 23 October 2019 at 8:17 pm, 202, Saint Asaph Street, Christchurch, 8011, Canterbury.
The reporter’s words
The new bike parking facilities were built without a lowered kerb. As a result, they are difficult to access with heavier cargo bikes or bike trailers. Even with a regular bike, one needs to come to a complete stop and diamine before accessing the stands. This is quite dangerous with other traffic immediately behind. The kerb needs to be lowered on the cycleway-adjacent side. I am sure this was an oversight during construction, and not intentional.
