The reporter’s words
I am concerned about damage being caused by white baiters on New Brighton Road. Sandbags have bee removed from temporary stop bank and placed in the river to observe whitebait passing. The grass is being destroyed and the bank has been dug away. There is rubbish being left on the bank and plastic cable ties strewn around. I am constantly having to clean up rubbish along the river bank. There are also road cones, plastic bags and plastic containers in the river but these were not put there by the White baiters. The parking of cars on the soft ground along the riverbank leave grooves which is making mowing difficult. I have been looking after this stretch of riverbank and it seems a pity that the area is being abused by just a few ruining the area for others to enjoy. (Photos attached)
