The reporter’s words

The cycle detector loop in the hook turn box from Colombo Street onto St Asaph Street doesn’t seem to have been working lately. I’ve been using it successfully for some time, however recently I haven’t been detected when using it, resulting in me needing to “run the red” in order to not be stuck in the hook turn box with vehicles turning left through it from behind me. I have a steel-framed bike and know where to place myself on the loops. If there is any work to be done at this location, could you look to move the hook turn box out of the path of southbound cyclists on Colombo Street? The painted crosswalk over St Asaph Street is wider than the kerb cutdowns, so there looks to be some opportunity for that. Finally, I’m not sure where cyclists approaching on St Asaph Street are meant to stop to be detected, as there have been some additional diamonds marked with spray paint, but the old ones remain. Where is the loop?
