Roading/Streets
Reported Tuesday, 31 December 2019 at 7:11 pm, 14 Rue Balguerie, Akaroa 7520, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
During summer the lower part of Rue Balguerie gets very congested with cars (and boat trailers) parked on both sides, reducing it to a single lane for most of the day. Many drivers (both locals and tourists) do not seem to be aware of the requirement to give way to uphill traffic, and we have witnessed a number of near-misses and angry confrontations over the past few years. Would it be possible to: a) install "give way to uphill traffic" signs and / or b) mark yellow lines in a few areas so that drivers are able to pull over and allow traffic to pass?
